Peter P. Polansky, age 66, of Old Forge, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Millie Anthony Polansky. The son of the late Peter & Helen A. Czerkas Polansky, Pete was a graduate of Taylor-Moosic High School, Class of 1964, attained rank of Eagle Scout, & was a proud veteran of the US Navy. As an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician, he owned & operated Polansky’s Performance Center for over 30 years. Pete was a member of the NHRA, as well as a drag racer himself. He earned his second degree Tang Soo Do black belt at the age of 56. The most well-known of his extraordinary talents was his storytelling of his beloved Uncle Stosh. He is also survived by his daughter Christene Nystrom & husband Robert of Phoenixville, his son Peter & wife Sarah of Duryea, his greatest joys, grandchildren Eva Madeline & Nicholas Peter Nystrom, brother John & wife Rosemary & sister Maryann Surdick, two aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, & cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Surdick, & a nephew, Craig Polansky.
Friends may call Sunday 4-7 PM at Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge. Funeral services will be held at 9:30AM at Holy Rosary Church at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 125 Stephenson Street in Duryea.
Interment with military services by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
