Barbara A. Fogley, R.N., age 71, of Scranton, passed away Thursday at the Community Medical Center in Scranton. Her husband, the late Kamille “Bob” A. Fogley, died on February 5, 1995. Born in Carbondale on January 13, 1940, daughter of the late Jerome and Mary Campbell Burke, Barbara was a graduate of South Catholic High School in Scranton and St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Carbondale before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Education from Misericordia University in Dallas. Her career as a Registered Nurse was both diverse and extensive. She most recently served as Nursing Coordinator for Marian Convent in Dunmore. She had worked in Washington DC; Somers Point, NJ; and Philadelphia, PA as well as Moses Taylor Hospital and CMC in Scranton. Both her career and her personal life were dedicated to helping and caring for others selflessly. Aside from enjoying her life in nursing, she loved to read, paint, swim and go to the beach. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Having a strong Roman Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother, she was a member of St. Patrick Parish for many years before recently becoming a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish. She is survived by her children, her son, Michael Anthony Fogley and wife Courtney of Scranton; her daughter, Roseann Ellen Polishan and husband Stephen of Scranton; her step son, Dr. Anees Robert Fogley and wife Karen of Scranton; step daughters, Judith A. Gasiewski and husband Joseph of Philadelphia, Mary Kay Judge of Scranton and Susan Marie Fogley of Nashville, TN; her brother, Jerome Burke and wife Mary of Laurel, MD; her sisters, Mary Ellen Kelly and husband James of Durham, NC, and Cathy Sienkiewicz and husband Jerry of Charlotte, NC; her eleven grandchildren: JoAnn Winter, and husband Paul John, Sarah Cook and husband Tim, Robert Judge, Joseph Gasiewski, Rebecca and Rachel Fogley, Hunter, Hope and Holden Polishan, and Timothy and Molly Fogley; her best friend of 50 years, Natalie Kocsis; nieces and nephews.

Because of her special bond with her grandson, Hunter, donations may be made in her memory to The Parents Loving Children Through Autism Foundation, 1243 Wyoming Avenue 3rd Floor, Scranton, PA 18509.
