Joan Golden, age 65, of Old Forge, passed away Monday afternoon after a brief stay at Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor. She is survived by her husband, John Golden. Wed on May 7th, 1966, the couple were married for 45 years. Born in Chester on February 2, 1946, daughter of the late Michael and Anna Slavinskas Durkalo, Joan was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1963. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for 37 years for the Topps Chewing Gum Company in Duryea. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Old Forge.
She is also survived by her sister, Theresa Behenek and husband Walter of Taylor; her brother, Michael Durkalo of Olyphant; her brother-in-law, Jerry Daniels of Ocala, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Ann Daniels, also preceded her in death.
Her family would to like to thank the staff of DaVita Dialysis of Old Forge for all of their care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00AM at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 620 South Main Street in Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Louis T. Kaminski, Pastor.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
Relatives and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Saturday from 9:30AM until mass time.
