Allen E. Williams, age 64, of Moosic, passed away Saturday morning at home. Born
in Moosic on July 2, 1946, son of the late Eugene J. and Edna Heckman Williams,
Allen was a graduate of the former Moosic High School. An Army Veteran of the
Vietnam War, he earned many accolades including: National Defense Service Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, 2 O/S Bars and Republic of
Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked 28 years for Acme Markets. He was a
longtime member of the Moosic United Methodist Church, a member of the VFW and
American Legion. He was an avid fan of just about any sport. He enjoyed getting
together with his sister-in-law, Betty Collins, for coffee and he loved spending
time with his four grandchildren, especially his youngest grandson, Eddie.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Cox of Moosic; his son, Billy Collins of
Springbrook; his four grandchildren, Ian Collins, Grant and Auralee Anna Collins
and Eddie Cox; and his former wife, Joyce Leyshon of Duryea.
A son, Bruce Collins, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney
Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev.
Doug Jensen, Pastor of the Moosic Alliance Church.
Interment, Marcy Cemetery in Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
