Obituaries

Carolyn Jean Lidy, age 86 , of Moosic, passed away Tuesday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton. Her husband, Kenneth Lidy, preceded her in death. Carolyn, daughter of the late Hubert and Gladys Rentz Moody, was born on August 19, 1924 in Baxley, Georgia. She was a graduate of Appling County High School. and prior to her retirement, she worked as a sales associate for the former Scranton Globe Store. She was a member of the Moosic United Methodist Church.
She was a former Girl Scout leader whose favorite hobbies were sewing and reading. She was loved very much by her family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Basta and husband Michael of Schnecksville, and Kathleen Johnson and husband Michael of Glenburn and a brother, Brantley Moody of Baxley, Georgia .Carolyn was affectionately called Nanny by her five grandchildren, Tara Basta, Matthew Basta and wife Laura, Meghan Swad and husband Noah, Emily and Kaitlin Johnson, two great grandchildren, Giada and Chase Basta, She was also survived by nieces and nephews and her beloved friend, James Jumper.
Two sisters, Opal Altman and Wynelle Larnerd, also preceded her in death.
Saturday’s funeral services will be at 10am in the Moosic United Methodist Church, 609 Main Street in Moosic.
Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, January 28 from 4pm to 7pm at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn’s name to the Moosic United Methodist Church or the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter (c/o 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, 18411).
