Gordon J. Huggler, age 52, of Old Forge, passed away at home Monday morning after enduring courageous battle with cancer. His wife of 29 years is the former Maria Gris. They were wed on October 6, 1979. Born in Old Forge on October 6, 1956, son of John and Ruth Burke Huggler of Old Forge, Gordon was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1974. Prior to his illness, he worked as a mechanic for Schuback Auto Parts in Old Forge and Doma Foods of Scranton. Of Protestant faith, he was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Old Forge. He adored his car, enjoyed his home and greatly loved his family. A loving husband, son, brother, relative and friend, he will be dearly missed.
Also surviving are his sisters; Corrine Huggler of Old Forge and Jackie Gleason and husband Garrett of Old Forge, three nieces and three nephews, several aunts and uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard L. Weinberger, The Cancer Treatment Center of America and especially to the local community for all of their care and support over the past few years.
Funeral services by the Rev. Jane O’Borski, Pastor of the Stewart Memorial Church in Old Forge, will be conducted on Friday at 1PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be followed my interment in the Milwaukee Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-8PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gordon’s name to the Stewart Memorial U.M. Church (c/o 174 North Main Street, Old Forge).
