Concetta Just Radkiewicz, age 94, passed away Sunday afternoon at Mountain View Care Center following an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Julian J. Radkiewicz on November 3, 1971. Born in Old Forge on November 15, 1914, daughter of the late Dominick and Michaeline Just and stepdaughter of the late Josphine Scalzo Just, she was educated in Old Forge Schools. Prior to retirement, she worked as a seamstress and floor lady for the Duchess Factory and Rohr Lingerie as she taught many a young girl how to sew and started them on their factory careers. Concetta was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge.
Concetta loved her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. A great cook and baker, her pineapple squares and raisin bread were the best. She loved family gatherings, picnics at the lake and long car rides, especially in the fall and with a stop at the Shadowbrook for strawberry icecream.
The family would like to send a special thanks for the care, kindness and compassion given to Concetta by Dr. Robert Kaville, the staff at Mountain View Care Center and Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
Concetta will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters; Nancy Dolgash and husband Greg, her caretakers with whom she previously resided, of Old Forge, and Marlene Tagliaterra and husband Phil of Old Forge, three granddaughters; Denise Kozin and husband Adam of Garnet Valley, Danielle Tagliaterra and fiance Chris Spindler of Old Forge, Renee Tagliaterra and fiance Peter Sobol of Old Forge, three great-granddaughters; Nicole, Alexis and Alisha Kozin, two great-grandsons; Joshua Philip Spindler and James Peter Sobol, Jr., two sisters; Helen Phillips of Clarks Summit and Lena Bosak of Scranton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anne Pisano, and four brothers; John, Joseph, Peter and Dominick Just.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 236 Vine Street, to be concelebrated by Rev. Joseph M. Brozena, former Pastor, and Rev. Gary J. Mensinger, Pastor of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, to be followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-8PM at the funeral home.
