Georgania Riviello, age 96, a 21-year resident of the Taylor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, passed away early Wednesday morning. She was preceded by her husband, Edward Riviello, who passed away in 1955. Born in Old Forge on September 29, 1912, daughter of the late Laban and Viola Seig Cox, Georgania was educated in Old Forge Schools. Prior to retirement, she was a self-employed housekeeper and a very talented seamstress. She was a member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Old Forge.
She is survived by her brother, Edward Cox and wife Margaret of Taylor, her niece and caregiver, Geraldine Rubel of Duryea, her daughter-in-law Mary Lou Riviello of Throop, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Also preceding in death was her step-mother, Elizabeth Riviello, her son, Ross Riviello and brothers; Alton and William Cox.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Taylor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially Jill Brown and Tracy Venetz, for all the years of kindness and care.
Funeral services by the Rev. Jane O’Borski, Pastor of the Stewart Memorial U.M. Church, will be held on Friday at 7PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Friday from 5PM until the time of services. Saturday interment, Forest Home Cemetery in Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stewart Memorial U.M. Church (c/o 174 North Main Street, Old Forge, 18518).
