Alice Kilmer, age 80, a resident of the Mountain View Care Center in South Scranton , formerly of Moosic Height’s in Avoca, died Wednesday evening at the Center. She was the widow of Charles R. Kilmer who died October 26, 1992.
Born in Old Forge on January 13, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Dawson Besecker, she settled at the Center in 1996. She was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Before her retirement she was employed as a bookkeeper for F. W. Woolworth’s and W. T. Grant’s in Napanoch, N.Y.She was a member of Moosic United Methodist Church, Moosic.She was active in the United Methodist Women of the Church.
She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and shopping.
She is survived by her one daughter, Elaine Maloney of Orangeburg, N.Y. One sister,
Theo Pope, Altamonte Spring, Fla. 5 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Gary in 1989 and a brother Robert D. Besecker in 1991.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11:30 A.M. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 North Main Street, Old Forge with services by the Rev. Jean Blackie, Pastor of the Moosic United Methodist Church, Moosic. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.Friends may call Saturday morning from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers , memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s name to the Mountain View Care Center 2309 Stafford Avenue in Scranton, Pennsylvania 18505
