Helen R. Lunney May, LPN, age 91, a five-year resident of Delaware, Ohio, and formerly of Old Forge, passed away Thursday evening (October 9th). She was preceded in death by her husbands, William J. Lunney who died on June 22, 1985, and George May who died on July 16, 2002. Born in Old Forge on June 11, 1917, daughter of the late Joseph and Winifred Hennigan Glynn, Helen was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1935. She studied nursing at Mercy Hospital in Scranton before working as an LPN for the hospital for over 23 years. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Moosic Senior Citizens, the local Card Club and The Danny Belotti Dancing Groups. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, relative and friend, she will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children; Glynn Lunney and wife Marilyn of Houston, TX, William J. Lunney and wife Rebecca of Wispering Pines, North Carolina, Gerald Lunney and wife Norma of Delaware, Ohio, and Carol Stephens and husband Ray of Centreville, Maryland, 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding in death was a brother, Stephen V. Glynn and a sister, Edna Kulick.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday (October 15) at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. Louis T. Kaminski, Pastor. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday (October 14th) between 6-8PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Willow Brook – Passages Unit, 100 Willow Brook Way, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
