Eleanor Albrecht, age 87, of Taylor passed away Tuesday at the Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Albrecht, in May of 1996. Born in West Pittston on October 16, 1920, daughter of the late James and Mary Musto Carrozza, Eleanor was a graduate of Scranton’s Central High School. Prior to retirement, she worked over 40 years as a seamstress for Family Garment of South Scranton where she was a member of the I.L.G.W. Union. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a former member of St. John the Baptist and a current member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, both of West Scranton. A passionate sports fan, she was an avid bowler, a New York Yankee and Los Angeles Lakers fan. She also adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was a gererous, loving and caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her sons, George W. Albrecht of Pittston and James Albrecht and wife Sally of West Scranton; a sister, Evelyn L. Frantz of Clarks Summit; four grandchildren, Kevin Albrecht, Michelle Ayre, Jennifer Pennington and Lori Ryan; six great-granchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She also preceded in death by a brother Frank who died at birth; and sisters, Marion Carrozza, Rose Cherra and Mildred Albrecht.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Street, to be concluded with interment at the Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-8PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Patrick’s Food Pantry (c/o 1403 Jackson Street Scranton, 18504).
