Robert P. VanDeusen, age 87, of Taylor passed away Monday morning under the care of the Community Medical Center VNA Hospice in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline A. Scrocka VanDeusen, on February 22, 2001. Born in Scranton on July 20, 1921, son of the late Leo W. and Anna Burns VanDeusen, Robert was educated in Scranton Schools. Prior to retirement, he was a laborer for Bethlehem Steel Company. Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, West Scranton and he was an avid walker.
He is survived by nieces and nephews including his primary caregivers, Donald Barycki and wife Marita of Old Forge; and a sister, Marilyn VanDeusen of Scranton.
Also precedining in death were sisters, Kathleen, Evelyn and Rita VanDeusen, Dorothy Walker and Lorraine Barycki; and brothers, Francis W., Kenneth and Gerard.
Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic, Jackson Street. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge. Viewing will be private.
