Marie H. Williams, age 78, a resident of the Mountain Rest nursing home, Scranton, passed away Monday at the nursing home. Her husband was the late Kenneth D. Williams, Sr., who died on December 29, 1978. Born in Scranton on July 19, 1929, Marie was the daughter of the late Jacob and Barbara Samuels Haser. She was a graduate of St. Ann’s High School. Before her retirement she was employed by the Department of Transportation. Prior to that, she worked for the former Scranton Mayor Eugene Peter’s administration, and was associated with the ‘Model Cities’ program. She was a member of both the former St. John the Baptist Church, West Scranton, and its choir, and she was an avid bowler.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Mountain Rest Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Williams with fiance Trish Traverse, Old Forge; a brother, Robert Haser, Jermyn, and a sister, Kathleen Evans, Scranton. Two grandchildren, Michael and Carly Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Tieberi-White.

A blessing service will be held Friday at 11am at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Viewing will be held at 10am Friday until the time of service.
