Alice A. McDonnell, 87, of Bayside, N.Y., passed away Monday morning at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens in Flushing, N.Y. Her husband was the late Joseph A. McDonnell who died on January 10, 1996.
Born on December 31, 1919 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Joseph Habeeb. Alice was educated in Scranton Schools. She was a member of St. Ann Maronite Church, West Scranton and its Our Lady Queen of Peace Sodality of which she had been an officer for a number of years.
She is survived by three children: a daughter, Mary Elizabeth McDonnell of Wharton, TX; and sons, Brother Joseph McDonnell with the Holy Cross Brothers in Flushing, N.Y. and Dennis McDonnell of Williamsville, NY. Also surviving are three siblings: a sister, Josephine Ferris of Fort Worth, TX, and brothers, Fred Habeeb, Clarks Summit, and Robert Habeeb, Chinchilla, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Alice in death was a son: Robert McDonnell and six sisters, Olga Joseph, Clara Anthony, Sister Maronita Habeeb, Mamie Habeeb, Nellie Iyoob, Frieda DiLeo: and a brother, Joseph Habeeb.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 A.M. from the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Ave., West Scranton, with a funeral liturgy at 9:30 AM in the St. Ann Maronite Church, corner of North Sumner Ave. and Price St., West Scranton, celebrated by the Rev. Francis J. Marini, Pastor. Public viewing hours will be Friday 5-8pm, with an incense service at 8:00 P.M.
Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, West Scranton.
