Rose Marhelski, age 87, a guest of St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home in Moscow, formerly of Old Forge and Archbald, died Tuesday morning in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit.She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Marhelski who died December 13, 1988.
Born on September 4, 1919 in Old Forge she was the daughter of the late John and Tekla Brygider Krynitski, she settled at the nursing home three years ago.
She was educated in the former St. Michael’s School , Old Forge. Before her retirement she was employed in the garment industry. She was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Old Forge.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed polka’s and her trips to Atlantic City.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Villa and the Mercy Hospital Hospice.
She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Brooks of Scranton and Marcia Kosar of Archbald. One son, Walter Marhelski of Throop. One sister,
Stella Kollar of Glouster, Va.
Six grandchildren;Corinne Fincken, Marc Ostrowski, Michael and Eric Marhelski, Christine Yusavage, and Jacqueline Blazaski.
Eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by:
4 sisters, Florence Krynitski, Victoria Yanowski,
Sophie Matto, and Marion Nazarenko
The funeral will be Friday at 8:30 A.M. from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge with mass of the christian burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Vine Street in Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph M. Brozena, Pastor. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 P.M.
