James H. Kucharski, 71, of Scranton, passed away Tuesday morning at Allied Hospice, Scranton.  His wife is the former Jean Dewey.  The couple would have celebrated thier 25th wedding anniversary in June.
Born September 10, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Walter and Dorothy Schuler Kucharski, James graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School.  Prior to his retirement, James was employed as a steel worker with Cement and Concrete Workers union in New York.  He was of the catholic faith.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, James always put his family above all else.  An avid sports fan, James was a huge fan of the Rangers, Giants, and Mets.  His many hobbies included coin collecting, sporting events, attending concerts, and spending time with family, and he loved sporting a good pair of aviator sunglasses.  Taken too soon, James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving in additon to his wife are: children, Lisa Mello, and husband, Greg, CT, Nicole Kucharski, CT, Jessica Tyrell, and husband, Rob, NJ, Brandon Kucharski, Tara Cetta, Denise Edwards, and husband, Todd, and Alyssa Kucharski, all of Scranton; 17 grandchildren; siblings, Dorothea Kucharski, Philadelphia and Walter Kucharski, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Cheryl Kucharski, and a son, Brian Price, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of James Life will be held on Tuesday at 7 PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc, 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, to be celebrted by Rev. Richard Fox, pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
