James "Monk" Edward Frey, age 79, of the Hill section of Scranton died Tuesday afternoon in the Mercy Hospital. His wife, Frances Jean Ostrowski Frey, died March 20, 1968.
Born in Moosic on January 1, 1928 he was the son of the late George Earl and Edna Emerson Frey.
He was educated in Moosic Schools.He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post # 945. Before his retirement he was employed by Jaunty Fabrics of Scranton and was a member of Moosic Assembly of God Church, Moosic. He was also a member of Hill Neighborhood Association and the Moosic Fire Department.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jacqueline Lishman and her husband Robert, with whom he resided and Patricia Marino and her companion Tom Nourse of Uniondale.
One sister, Margaret Sleitzer also with whom he resided. Three grandchildren;Kim Marino and her fiance Joe Healey of Scranton and Frederick and Justine Lishman, with whom he resided. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Lester Frey

The funeral will be Friday at
11:00 A.M. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge with services by Rev. David O’Brien
Pastor of the Moosic Assembley of God Church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 P.M.
Military services will be conducted Friday by the AMVETS Honor Guard.
