Suzanne Marie Abdalla, age 85 and a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away on Tuesday morning.
Daughter of the late James Abdalla, Sr. and Waddad (Hazzouri) Abdalla, she was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s High School in West Scranton. Prior to her retirement, she was the personal director of Giant Markets and also served as president of the Giant Market Association. A lifelong member of Saint Ann Maronite Church, she was also a member of the parish’s Queen of Peace Sodality. Upon retirement, she enjoyed trips to the casinos. She never met a slot machine she didn’t like.
Suzanne’s life was a life of service, selflessly choosing the needs of others above her own. She will never be forgotten by family and dear friends.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Paul Abdalla and wife Barbara of Naples, FL, Joseph Abdalla and wife Helen of Princeton, N.J., Nancy Mazzei and husband Emile of Roaring Brook Twp., Alex Abdalla and wife Victoria of Hamilton, N.J., Maurice Abdalla and wife Louise of Margate, N.J., and Philip Abdalla and wife Joyce of Mount Laurel, N.J.; her brother-in-law, Jack Richards of Scranton; her sister-in-law, Barbara Brudzinski Abdalla of Monroe Twp., N.J.; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Along with her parents, Suzanne was also preceded in death by her dear siblings, Ablain and James Abdalla, Jr. and Ann Marie “Anna” Richards, whom Suzanne shared a special relationship.
Also surviving is her goddaughter whom she raised, Michaeline Daboul, and a grandson, Nikolaus. Schultz.
Her family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Mountain View Care Center for the special care and attention they collectively gave to both Suzanne and her family and also to Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli and his staff for their dedication to Suzanne’s care.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 AM at Saint Ann Maronite Church, 1320 Price Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Antoun (Tony) Youssef, Pastor. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until services. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to church.
