Gabriella (Connell) Falvo of Kingston passed away on Wednesday, September 28th, at Yale University Hospital in New Haven, CT, after injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. She was 59 years young.
Born in Pittston on February 16, 1963 and beloved daughter of Mary Lucille (Gilson) Connell of Pittston and the late William Francis Connell, Jr., Gabriella was a graduate of the former Seton Catholic High School, Class of 1981, before earning her degree from Lackawanna College in 1984.
She had worked as an activities director at several area nursing homes including both Manor Care and Mountain View Care Center where she considered the residents her extended family as she genuinely found joy in seeing their own happiness. More recently, she worked as a restaurant cook, most notably for Cracker Barrel.
Gabriella will forever be remembered in so many ways. She loved nature and spending times outdoors, especially while camping. She enjoyed going to craft shows as her mother’s sidekick and her love for Halloween and spooky decorations was second to none.
Above all else was her kindness, big heart and adoration for her family. She was a loving mother, daughter, “nana”, sister, aunt, relative and friend. Taken from her loved ones too soon, she’ll forever be loved.
She is survived by her loving family, including children, Mariah Webb of Kingston, Rachel Webb of Wilkes Barre and Logan Falvo of Kingston; her three grandchildren, Lana, Emma and Elle; her three siblings, Thomas Connell of Pittston, Lt. Col. (ret.) Mary Connell of FL and Courtney McKitish and husband Eric of Pittston; her sister-in-law, Ann Connell of Scranton; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James David Falvo, on January 5, 2008; and siblings, Andrew (Andy), infant Thomas and William F. Connell, III.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Ave, West Pittston, to be celebrated by Msgr. John J. Sempa.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until Mass and/or on Friday between 4 – 7:00 PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
Those attending Saturday’s funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gabriella’s name to the St. Joseph’s Indian School c/o 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
