Jack A. Kennedy, 80, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Monday afternoon in PAM Specialty Hospital of Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 55 years is the former Dolores Biagioni. The couple was married on February 5, 1966.
Born October 26, 1940 in Scranton, son of the late Matthew and Elma Shafer Kennedy, Jack was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Jack honorably served in the US Army and was a member of the Teamsters Local #229. He was employed by SuperMarket Services in Dunmore for 34 years prior to his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Taurus Club, Scranton.
Jack was a man of simple pleasures, and nothing brought him more pleasure than spending time with his family. A die hard Yankees fan, he will leave behind a legacy in the hearts of those who knew him.
Surviving are: a daughter, Kris Vieira, and husband, Joseph, Roaring Brook Twp; a son, Keith Kennedy, and wife, Charlene, Hanover Twp.; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Kaylene Kennedy.
A sister, Gail Jerowski, and two brothers, William and Matthew Kennedy, Jr. preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 7 PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N. Main Avenue, Scranton with Rev. Francis Landry officiting. Private entombment will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Covington Township.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503.
