Peter W. Engle, 68, of Scranton, died Friday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 7, 1952 in Scranton to the late Peter Jr. and Helen Balendy Engle, he was educated in Scranton Schools. Peter was previously employed by Pocono Gardens Lodge for 15 years where he was recognized as emplyee of the month for his hard work, loyalty, and dedication. Most recently, he was employed for over 20 years by Arlington Industries, Scranton. He was of the protestant faith.
Always known to be early, Peter was a hard and reliable worker. He enjoyed holiday dinners with his family, and having his family surround him to celebrate his birthday was the highlight of his year. Peter liked Superhero and Cowboy movies and Classic Rock. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Always a giving person, Peter made sure that even after his passing someone would be helped by being an organ donor.
Surviving are: two sisters, JoAnn Diano, Scranton; Shirl “Kat” Engle, Spring Brook Twp., 2 brothers, Richard Engle, Scranton, and Robert Engle, and wife, Karen, Scranton, Nephews, Dominick Diano, Scranton, Peter Diano, and wife, Lori Ambrosia Diano, Scranton, Saamon Engle, Spring Brook Twp., a niece, Sahara Engle, Spring Brook Twp., Great nephew, Peter Diano and great neice, Abby Diano, both of Scranton, and Ex Brother-in-law, Joseph Diano, Scranton.
A brother, Edward Engle, brother-in-law, Tom Mahoney, and a nephew, Joseph Diano preceded him in death.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lorraine Hutchins, a very dear friend, who, along with the family, helped to take excellent care of Peter. We will be forever grateful for your kindness.
A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held on Thursday at 7 PM in the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 N Main Ave., Scranton with Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora, officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 5 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
