Virginia Daisy Gress, age 95, a guest of the Mountain View Care Center in South Scranton, formerly of Moosic and Moscow, died Thursday evening at the Center. She was the widow of Harry Gress, who died November 6, 1975.
Born in Moosic on April 8, 1911 she was the daughter of the late John and Dinah Raybould Benson. She was educated in Moosic Schools. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a receiver and shipper in the garment industry. She was a member of Moosic Presbyterian Church, Moosic for 78 years.
She was a past matron of the Moscow Order of Eastern Star #197 and a life member of the Martha Washington Chapter #3 Order of Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of Keystone Consistory, Cana White Shrine #1, the Moscow Women’s Club, the Moscow Firemens Auxiliary.

She is survived by her one daughter, Betsy Griffith and her husband Bob of Moosic, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers John and William Benson, and four sisters, Violet Benson, Clara Santioni, Rose Brown and Marguerite Benson.
The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 P.M. in the Mountain View Care Center Chapel with services by Rev. Dr. Susan J. Ezell, Pastor of the Moosic Presbyterian Church, Moosic. Entombment will be in Fairview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Elmhurst.
Friends may call at the center Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
