John J. Muha, Sr., age 92, of Old Forge, died Wednesday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. He is survived by his wife, Irene Leschinski Muha. They had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 26th.
Born on June 14, 1914 in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Lucas and Kathryn Goryl Muha. He was a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1933 and had attended Penn State University. He was a great athlete and sportsman, having played semi professional basketball. He also played basketball, football and baseball for Old Forge High School and was a member of the 1932 State Championship Basketball Team. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a milkman by Woodlawn Dairy, Scranton, and prior to that he was a coal miner. He was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Old Forge. He was also a member of the Local Teamsters.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Taylor Nursing Home.
He is also survived by two sons, John Muha and his wife Barbara, of Old Forge, and Kevin Muha and his wife Donna, of Coatsville, a sister, Helen Wiechowski, of Denver, Colorado, three grandsons, Brian, Gregory, and John Muha, a granddaughter, Aubrie Muha, four great grandchildren, Tara, Christopher, Ethan and Mackenzie Muha, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Stanley, Edward, and infant brother Joseph Muha, and sisters, Nellie Mozdien, Emily Falong, and Josephine Bednarz.

The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 A.M. from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with a mass of christian burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church Vine Street, Old Forge, by Rev. Joseph M. Brozena, Pastor. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
Friends may call Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
