Edward M. "Irish" McLaughlin, age 62, of Lake Winola and Boynton Beach, Florida, died Friday morning at Mercy Hospital in Scranton.
Born on November 3, 1943 in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Adelaide Gerrity McLaughlin. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was an owner of Shirts & More, and a driver for P.I.E. Trucking Co.. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, Scranton. He was also a member of the Teamster Union #229.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many; he enjoyed golfing and spending his winters in Florida with "his Susie".

He is survived by his two daughters, Marion Adamo of Dunmore, Kristen McGrorty of Plymouth Meeting, a son, Edward Ted McLaughlin of Scranton, a brother, Thomas McLaughlin of Avoca, four grandchildren, Amanda and Frankie Adamo and Lily Belle and Chloe McGrorty, several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his loving companion of 19 years Susan Smith.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. from the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Avenue, West Scranton, with a mass of christian burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church Fairview Road, Lake Winola, by Rev. James Shimsky, Assoc. Pastor of St. Mary of the Lake, Lake Winola and Nativity B.V.M. Church, Tunkhannock. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Mill City.
