Mary A. Shebby, age 90, a resident of the Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton, formerly of Moosic, died Sunday afternoon at the Center. She was the widow of Stephen G. Shebby who died in 1981.
Born in Scranton on April 16, 1916 she was the daughter of the late David J. and Ann Richards Davis. She was educated in Scranton Schools. She served in the Navy with the WAVES during World War II and was stationed in Washington D.C.. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Pa. State Unemployment Office in Pittston and was a member of Moosic Presbyterian Church, Moosic . She was a member of Order of Eastern Star where she was a past matron and was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans.
She is survived by her one daughter, Ann Marie Surkin of Broomall and one son, Richard Shebby of Jacksonville, Fla.
Three grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son David who died at the age of 40 and a sister Elizabeth Smith.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with services by the Rev. Dr. Susan J. Ezell, Pastor of the Moosic Presbyterian Church, Moosic. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Duryea.
