Veronica H. Tirpak, age 96, of Moosic, formerly of Old Forge, died Monday evening in the VNA Hospice Unit of the Community Medical Center.She was the widow of Paul Tirpak who died June 1961.
Born in Old Forge on February 20, 1910 she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Krempasky Haschak.She was educated in Old Forge Schools.Before her retirement she was employed by the Hillcrest Shade Company of Old Forge.She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.She enjoyed cooking and baking but most of all she loved her family, church, and friends. She was affectionately know as "Baba" to most who knew her.
She is survived by her one daughter, Janet Staritz and her husband Michael, with whom she resided. A grandson Paul Staritz and his wife Jeannie of Moscow. A granddaughter Beth Cwiek and her husband John of Exeter, Rhode Island. A great granddaughter Lee Cwiek of Exeter, Rhode Island.A sister-in-law Margaret Stanik of Clarks Summit and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Michael and Stephen Haschak and eight sisters, Helen and Susan Haschak, Anna Lanick, Mary Maceyko, Catherine Smith, Margaret Mislevy, Olga Sabatini, and Elizabeth Matuschak.
The funeral will be Friday with a Panachida service at 9:00 A.M. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, followed by Pre Sanctified Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, corner of Vine and Church Streets in Old Forge to be concelebrated by the Rev. Gary J. Mensinger, Pastor and the
Rev. Nicholas Kraynak, Assoc. Pastor. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Old Forge. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Parastas services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 P.M.
