Eleanor (Giordano) Peters, age 87, of Orefield, Pa., formerly of West Scranton, died Saturday evening at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Joseph E. Peters who died June 15, 1994.
Born on June 28, 1918 in Scranton she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Giovanna DeCicco
Giordano. She was a graduate of Scranton Techical High School and also Hahnemann School of Nursing in Scranton where she received her Registered Nursing Degree.She devoted much of her early years caring for the sick as a private duty nurse.She was a member of St. Ann Maronite Church, West Scranton.

She is survived by her two sons,
James J. Peters and his wife Regina Magnotta Peters of Moscow and Dr. Albert J. Peters and his wife Dr. Molly Samuels Peters of Orefield, Pa.Two daughters, Selma Trudnak and her husband Robert of Clarks Summit and Maria Bomersbach and her husband Robert of Wayne, Pa. A sister Vera Borsuk, Scranton.Eleven grandchildren, James Peters, Jr. and wife Leslie, Dr. Christopher Peters and wife Jennifer, Marissa Peters Cherian and husband Saj, Robert Trudnak and wife Tammy, Mark Trudnak and wife Heather, Michael and Tara Trudnak, Jonas Bomersbach, Joseph, Christina, and David Peters and six great grandchildren ;Isabella and Rose Peters, Cole and Alessandra Cherian, and Madeline and Mitchell Trudnak. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a brother Tom Giordano and sisters Gemma Scholonas, Nancy Prislupski, Antoinette Araneo, and Mary Petrillo.
The Funeral Liturgy will be Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Ann Maronite Church, corner of Price and North Sumner Ave. in West Scranton to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis J. Marini, Pastor. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church on the day of the funeral. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Scranton.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. in the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 North Main Avenue, West Scranton. Incense services will be held at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
