Lucy Ruth Hilson, age 76, died on Sunday at Community Medical Center in Scranton. Born on December 2, 1929 in Springbrook, she was the daughter of the late George, Sr. and Irene Shinert Aston. Lucy was educated in the Springbrook one-room schoolhouse, was a member of Nebo Congregational Church in Old Forge, and also the I.L.G.W.U..

Lucy is survived by her three daughters, Donna Estevez of Baldwin Park, Calif., Roxanne Aston of Pittston, Helen Mercincavage of Scranton, five sisters, Jeanette Siglin of Brodheadsville, Beatrice Rusher of French Camp, Calif., Evelyn Litts of Springbrook, June Shaffer of Hughestown, and Betty Shotwell of Duryea, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Smith, and three brothers, John, George, Jr., and Roy Aston.

The funeral is scheduled for Friday, 11:00 A.M., at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge, with services by Rev. Carl Brigido, Pastor of the Nebo Congregational Church. Interment will be at Springbrook Cemetery in Springbrook. Following the interment, the family will host a reception where all will have an opportunity to celebrate Lucy’s life.

Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 71 N. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18701.
