Obituaries

Helen Sorok, age 96, of Covington Twp., died Tuesday at the Golden Living Center – East Mountain, Wilkes Barre. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Sorok, on October 24, 1976.
Born in the Austin Heights section of Old Forge on February 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Fannie Jadick Mislevy. Educated at Old Forge High School, she was also a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Old Forge. Passing away peaceully, she will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Sorok and wife Julie, and David Sorok, all of Covington Twp.; her brother, Harold Mislevy of Michigan; her sister, Violet Delassandro of Exeter; her niece, Lorine Lemoncelli of Pittston, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Sisters, Olga Kopin, Leona Makuch, Katherine Hriczak, Anne Shada and Mary Besk; and brothers, Nicholas and Peter Mislevy also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank the tremendous staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for the care they had given to Helen.
As per Helen’s wishes, a private funeral will be conducted on Saturday from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with services at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Old Forge, by the Rev. Peter E. Henry, Rector. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
