Charles L. Odgers, Jr., age 87, of Falls, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning.
Born in Scranton on June 16, 1927, and raised in Moosic, Charles was the son of the late Charles, Sr., and Gladys Thomas Odgers. After attending Moosic schools, he served his country in the United States Navy. A mechanic for 23 years, he worked for the GOEX Black Powder Mill in Moosic. He then began and served as owner and operator of Odgers Landscaping. A true outdoorsman, he loved hunting and especially fishing, enjoying fishing trips in Canada. An avid woodworker, he was also proud of his garden. He adored his dog, Shelby, and his favorite pastime was sitting on his porch. He will be forever missed by his dear friends and family.
He is survived by a son, Scott Odgers and wife Donna of Falls; his brothers, Jack Odgers of Factoryville and Thomas Odgers, who Charles cared for and previously lived with for 14 years prior to becoming ill, of Falls; his sister, Shirley Sanders of Avoca; four grandchildren, Kevin Burns, Jeffrey, Mark and Kerry Odgers; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Gary Odgers; and a former wife, Arlene Odgers, both preceded him in death.
Charles’ family wishes to thank all of those who took such tremendous care of him throughout his illness.
Funeral services by Rev. James A. Wert are scheduled for Friday at 10:00AM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment with full military services by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 3-6:00PM at the funeral home.
