Obituaries

Loretta B. Thompson, age 82, of Taylor, passed away Friday evening in the Commonwealth Hospice Unit of Regional Hospital in Scranton, after an illness. Her beloved husband of 57 years, Gerald Gerard Thompson, died on May 30, 2008.
Born in Scranton on December 11, 1931, daughter of the late John and Sarah Lowe Albrecht, Loretta was educated at West Scranton High School. She had worked in the local garment industry before retiring from the Hy-Grade Pants Company. She was a lifelong member of the Bethania Presbyterian Church in Scranton. An avid soap opera viewer, she adored her dog, Bailey. She will be forever missed.
She is survived by her loving son and caretaker, Gerald M. Thompson, of Taylor; and a granddaughter, Ashley Thompson.
Her son would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. William Dempsey as well as the staffs of both Commonwealth and Traditional Home and Health Hospice for the collective care given to Loretta.
Sisters, Dorothy Tighe and Miriam Borowsky, also preceded her in death.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Loretta’s name to Bethania Presbyterian Church, 22 South Main Street, Scranton.
