Anna Bott, a resident of the Hyde Park section of Scranton, passed away at Commonwealth Hospice of Regional Hospital, Scranton, on Sunday evening.
Anna was born on January 8, 1918, daughter of the late Louis and Viola Donati Bott in Freeland, PA. Moving to Scranton’s Hyde Park section at a very early age, she attended St Patrick’s Elementary School and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, West Scranton. Anna also attended Morristown School of Nursing, Morristown, NJ. Before her retirement from Clarks Summit State Hospital, she was employed at the PA Department of Health, Scranton and Anthracite News, Scranton. A member of St. Patrick’s Church, West Scranton, she was also active with the Society of the Faithful.
A quiet, sweet, warm, loving, and kind woman, Anna was a very determined person with a mind of her own. She always knew exactly what was going on around her and had high values. She loved her family and children, especially the very young.
Anna is survived by her nephew, William Bott, his wife Deborah and their children, Holli and William, Jr.. She is also survived by her caregivers Mrs. Alice M. Tighe and Mrs. Margaret M. Fiorini and their families.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters Mrs. Mary McHale and her husband Austin, Ms. Alma F. Bott, R.N. and two brothers Vincent Bott and Charles Bott and his wife the former Millicent Lloyd. Also, a niece, Kathy Bott.
We would like to extend a special “Thank you” to Ms. Erin Gilgallon, Mrs. Natalie Walsh, Mrs. Maureen Davis, Ms. Patricia Jones, Ms. Barbara Santarsiero, Ms. Mary Beth Jones, Mrs. Karen Yerke, Ms. Bernadette Lepkowski and Mrs. Nancy Chiaro for the outstanding attention, compassion, love and care each gave to Anna every day. We would like to acknowledge Mr. and Mrs James Bradley who visited Anna weekly to say the “rosary” and share their warm and caring friendship which continued with a weekly phone call after they moved out of the area. Also, a special “Thank you” to Mrs. Theresa Kearney who kept Anna’s hair to perfection, and Anna’s landlords Paul and Kay McElhenny and family for always being there if needed. To anyone else who has touched Anna’s life, her family thanks you!
Funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:30AM from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue in scranton, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram Street in West Scranton. Interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
