Romaine Quinlan, age 93, of Moosic, died Tuesday evening at the Greenridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton, after a brief stay. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, William Quinlan, on March 31, 2006.
Born in Scranton on September 15, 1921, daughter of the late Otto and Elizabeth Harper Rosencrans, Romaine was a high school graduate of Scranton Schools. A longtime active member of the Moosic Presbyterian Church, she served as an elder, a deacon and as a Sunday School teacher. Along with her husband William, who served as Moosic Borough Recreation Cordinator, Romaine was a fixture at all local sporting events in all local venues, especially the Moosic Little League and the Moosic Youth Center. Her selfless dedication and commitment to the youth of the community will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by two nieces, Patricia Cruise of Scranton and Mary Boyd of Georgia; many great nieces and great nephews; and many great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Her sister, Evelyn O’Leary; her niece, Evelyn Fornaszewski; her nephew, Benjamin O’Leary; and her great niece, Lynn Laboranti, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 10:00AM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be may in Romaine’s name to the Moosic Presbyterian Church, 625 Main Street, Moosic, 18507.
