Obituaries

Theresa L. Karam, age 78, of Old Forge, passed away Thursday evening under the care of Hospice of the Sacred Heart’s Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 21 years, Charles Karam, Sr., on May 28, 1985.
Born in Scranton on May 4, 1936, daughter of the late Charles and Helen Vargo Lelio, Theresa was educated in Scranton Schools before marrying Charles and beginning a family. She leaves behind her adoring family who will forever miss her deeply. She also was a longtime member of St. Ann Maronite Church in West Scranton.
She is survived by her three children, Charles Karam, Jr., and Patricia Marzitelli, both of Old Forge, and Genine Davis of Taylor; two sisters, Eileen Pricci of Scranton and Jean Arnone of Mayfield; ten grandchildren, Joseph and Jason Palma, Sergio, Vanessa and Giulio Marzitelli, Alex Davis, Charles, III, Chloe, Cambria and Cadyn Karam; a great grandson, Joseph Palma, IV; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to thank both Doctors Armando Sallavanti and Ralph Demario as well as the entire staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the collective care and compassion given to both Theresa and her family throughout her illness.
A daughter, Deborah Palma; and five siblings, Harry and Bernard Lelio, Sylvia Lello, Helen Sauerwein and Mary Batch also preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 9:45AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:30AM Divine Liturgy at St. Ann Maronite Church, 1320 Price Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by the Very Rev. Francis J. Marini, Pastor. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home. Incense services will be held at 6:30PM.
