Aleene Frey Thomas, age 61, of Moosic, passed away peacefully Monday morning at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband, James Thomas. Wed on December 9, 1972, the couple were married for 41 years.
Born in Taylor on March 31, 1953, daughter of the late Alfred and Myrtle Dawes Frey, Aleene attended the former Moosic – Taylor High School. Prior to her illness, she worked for the former Verplex Corporation, Topps Chewing Gum Company and Allied Services. She was a lifelong member of the Moosic Assembly of God Church. An avid bingo player, she also loved taking trips to the casino with her husband. An animal lover, she adored her two cats, Fluffy and Rue. A loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother of three, Aleene will be forever missed by her family and countless amount of friends.
She is also survived by her daughters, Lisa Prizzi and husband Santo of Spring Brook Twp., and Jamie Wolf and husband James of Moosic; her brother, Gary Frey, Sr., and wife Rose Marie of Moosic; her three grandchildren, Tyler, Vanessa and Victoria; her best friend, Alma Scaramastro of Moosic; and nieces and nephews.
A brother, Robert Frey; and a nephew, Gary Frey, Jr., also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Traditional Care Hospice, including Patty Bonitz, and also to the entire local community, especially Carla Shaffer, Alicia Kobilinski and Stephanie Farruggia, who collectively gave so much love and support to them throughout Aleene’s illness.
Funeral services, to be conducted by Rev. Kerry Bingaman, are scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th, at 7:00PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 4:00PM until services.
