Rose K. Hoffman, age 87, of the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, died Tuesday at home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Edward Milton Hoffman, Jr., on April 18, 2004. Born on August 31, 1926, a lifelong resident of Old Forge and daughter of the late Anthony and Malonka Krevey, Rose was educated in Old Forge Schools. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by both Hygrade and Lackawanna Pants Factories as a sewing machine operator. A longtime member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church in Old Forge, Rose’s favorite pastime was gardening, having an extensive collection of plants. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and most recently, great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon Hoffman of Pittsburgh, Edward Hoffman, III, of Old Forge, and his fiance Stacey Werner of Moosic, and Keith Hoffman of Harding; brothers, Edward and Stephon; sisters, Kathryn, Johanna, Helen and Alice; four grandchildren, Keith, Jason, Ryan and Shane; a great-grandson, Jackson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brothers, Paul, Peter, Andrew and Frank; and sisters, Julie, Stella and Dolores, also preceded her in death.
A private Office of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday in St. Nicholas of Myra Church to be celebrated by Rev. Eduard Shestak, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas’ Parish Cemetery.
Private arrangements are under the care of Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s name to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, 18411.
