William (Bill) J. Foley, age 67 and a lifelong resident of Old Forge, died Tuesday morning at Gino Merli Veteran Center in Scranton. Born on November 29, 1946, son of the late William J., Sr., and Rose Reuther Foley, Bill was a graduate of Old Forge High School. A proud United States Air Force Veteran, Bill was also an active member of the Old Forge VFW, Post #4954. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a security guard at Tobyhanna Army Depot. Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a longtime member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Old Forge. He was also a supportive member of the National Rifle Association. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving sister, Kathleen Kerl and husband Thomas of Crystal Lake; nieces, Elizabeth Caucci and husband David of Clarks Summit, Mary Retzbach and husband Craig of Greenfield, and Margaret McCaffrey and husband Andrew of Simpson; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Also preceding him in death was an aunt, Mary M. Foley.
His family would like to thank both the staffs of Gino Merli Veterans’ Center and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the exceptional care given to Bill throughout his illness.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 620 South Main Street in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment with full military services by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
