Patricia Ann Nenish-Hayes, age 57, of Scranton, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thurman Hayes, Sr. Wed on December 28, 1998, the couple were married for 14 years. Born in Kingston on November 9, 1956, daughter of the late Daniel and Edith Mae Thomas Nenish, She was educated at Pittston Area High School. Patsy was a homemaker who put every ounce of herself into taking care of her family. She will forever be remembered for her selfless nature and caring ways, constantly helping others while touching many people’s lives in the process. A former Gold Star Mother of America, she adored her family, especially all of her grandchildren, and although she’s gone she will never be forgotten by all of those who loved her.
She was a devoted member of New Life Baptist Church in Scranton.
She is survived by her children, Edward Hunt, Shannon Osborne, Michael Nenish and Jordan Hayes; her step-children, Thurman Jr. and Monica Hayes, and Billy Jo and Yvonne Degraffenried; her siblings, Theresa Pachucki, Edith Radle, Margaret Tomaselli and Robert Nenish; her grandchildren, Elijah, Malachi, Isaiah and Silas Hunt, Jayden and Jaxson Brown, Jarita, Jamar, Douglas, Jalil, Ne’Chell and Carl Hayes, and Tyler, Antonio, Loretta and Brittni Degraffenreid; many nieces and nephews and countless others that looked to her for guidance as a mother figure.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both Rev. Dr. Michael Stallard and Rev. Andy Geissman, for their friendship and spiritual guidance throughout Patsy’s illness.
A step-son, Douglas Hayes; and siblings, Phyllis Mucha, Donna Robinson, Daniel, Paul, David and John Nenish also preceded her in death.
A memorial service for all relatives and friends is scheduled for Sunday at 2:00PM at New Life Baptist Church, 326 Spruce Street in Scranton, to be conducted by Rev. Andy Geissman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patsy’s name to her church. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge.
