Obituaries

Mary Leach,, LPN, 75 and a lifelong resident of Wilkes Barre, died Thursday evening at Golding Living Center – Summit. Born on November 22, 1937, daughter of the late William Leach, Leona Gunton Lapinski and stepfather, Stanley Lapinski, Mary graduated St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1955, before working as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several local nursing homes. Of Roman Catholic fath, she was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church in Wilkes Barre.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen Kennedy of Ashley and Joan Schooley of Nanticoke; a brother, Joseph Leach of Wilkes Barre; a goddaughter, Mary Lee Franklin of Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Leona Albert; a brother, Stanley Leach; and brothers-in-law, Edward Kennedy and Harvey Schooley, also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30AM in St. Mary’s Church, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 134 South Washington Street in Wilkes Barre, to be celebrated by Msgr. Thomas V. Banick, Pastor. Private viewing will precede the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
