Marion T. Gardocki, age 82, of Taylor, died Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was preceded in death on November 16, 1994 by her beloved husband of 40 years, Stephen Gardocki, Sr. Born in Scranton on February 6, 1931, daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine Meredick Mross, Marion attended St. Peter and Paul’s Parochial School before graduating from West Scranton High School. She retired as a lifelong worker in the local garment industry. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a faithful member of SS Peter and Paul’s Church in West Scranton. She always enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family at Eagle Lake and her favorite pastime was playing casino slots, either in Atlantic City or at the Mohegan Sun. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, relative and friend, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving son, Stephen Gardocki, Jr., of Atco, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Matthew Gardocki and wife Erin, and Sara Lynn Scafidi and husband John; four great-grandchildren, Erianna, Owen, Liam and Johnny; and many cousins and friends.
Her daughter-in-law, Debra Lynn Gardocki; and a four-year-old brother, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank both Geri Kobylus and Dorothy Beck, Marion’s cousins and caretakers, whom she considered sisters to her.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 8:45AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at SS Peter & Paul Parish, 1309 West Locust Street in Scranton. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marion’s name to the SS Peter and Paul’s Parish Cemetery Fund, 1309 West Locust Street in Scranton, 18504.
