Mary Grace Alexander Shea Scott, age 58, of Taylor, died Sunday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an illness. She is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Scott. Celebrating her 58th birthday on October 1st, she was the daughter of the late Silvio and Theresa Alexander. Educated in Scranton parochial and public schools, prior to her illness she was employed by The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Scranton. Mary Grace loved animals, including her beloved dogs, Vicki and Rissa, whom she affectionately referred to as her “girls”, and her cat, Emmie. She passed away surrounded by her family who loved her so much. She will be dearly missed.
She is also survived by her sisters, Gail Schilling and Sylvia Alexander, both of Scranton; niece and Goddaughter, Christine Schilling of New York, New York, and nephew, Joseph Schilling of Scranton; sisters-in-law, Tammy Cornell of Scranton and Doreen Lutkowski and husband Thomas of Taylor; and several other nieces and nephews including, Brenda, Thomas and Scott Lutkowski and wife Melanie, Joshua and Johannes Cornell and wife Sophie, Jay, Todd, Miranda, Tad, Carrie, Jody and Michele Hastings; a great-nephew, Nickel Cornell; and several cousins.
Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Joseph Shea, in 1979.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 9:00AM on Thursday from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Avenue in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Patrick J. McLaughlin. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Grace’s name to the Salvation Army, 1155 River Street, Scranton, 18505.
