Lucia M. Petrosky, age 53, of Binghamton, New York, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 7th, 2013, at Wilson Medical Center, in Johnson City, NY. She is survived by her loving husband, Gerard Petrosky. Wed on April 26, 1980, the couple were married for 32 years. Born in Old Forge, PA, on April 14, 1959, daughter of the late Emlyn Carey and Lucille Vancosky Carey of Old Forge, Lucia graduated from Old Forge High School, Class of 1977, and attended Wilkes University in 1978. She went on to earn an associate’s degree in accounting through ICS.
Lucia worked at Botnick Chevrolet, Binghamton, NY, and later at Saturn of Binghamton, holding positions of Title Clerk and Warrantee Administrator. She was currently employed at WBNG TV as an Accounting Assistant. She also volunteered for 17 years at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA holding positions of Trainman, Conductor and Yard Master. She notably served as Conductor on the “all-female” Steam Engine Train Crew at Steamtown NHS Labor Day weekend 1999.
Lucia was a member of the former St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Old Forge, PA, and currently a member of St. Paul’s Church in Binghamton, NY.
Lucia was a loving, kind and caring woman who put her family first. She found great joy in calligraphy, art, and many other creative endeavors. Her vibrancy brightened the lives of those around her and she will be missed deeply by many.
Along with Gerard, she is also survived by her son, Russell Petrosky and wife Mary of Johnson City, her daughter Tracy, Binghamton; her brother Scott Carey of Old Forge; and her sisters Jacinta Nocera and husband David of Falls and Theresa Carey of Old Forge; as well many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:30AM in Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street in Duryea, PA, to be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Sinnott, Pastor. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge, PA.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 6-9:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, PA.
