Mary Agnes Ptaszynski, age 87, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Wednesday at the Mountain View Care Center. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Ptaszynski. Wed on July 3, 1952, the couple were married for 60 years. Born on April 19, 1925, daughter of the late John and Mary Ruddy McHale, Mary retired after working for both the Parodi Cigar and Scranton Lace Companies. An active member of the Keyser Valley Senior Citizens, she enjoyed taking trips to both New York and Atlantic City, and one of her favorite pastimes was hosting family picnics in her backyard. A loving wife and mother who adored her family and pets, she will be dearly missed.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in West Scranton.
Also surviving is her daughter and caregiver, Mary Margaret Ptaszynski, at home; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding in death was an infant son, Joseph; a brother, John McHale; and sisters, Ann Gavin and Margaret McHale.
Her family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the 2nd and 3rd floor staffs of Moses Taylor Hospital and to the Alcore Unit of Mountain View Care Center for their exceptional care.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9:30AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in Scranton. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Parish Cemetery, Minooka.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, 18411.
