Obituaries

Mary Bernavage, age 95, of Gouldsboro and formerly of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday morning under the care of Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Bernavage, in 1990. Born in Old Forge on November 21, 1917, Mary was the daughter of the late Michael and Agnes Kalson. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a top stitcher for over 30 years. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Church Parish in West Scranton.
She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Marlene D’Ambrosio and husband Michael, with whom she resided; and many grandchildren.
Also preceding in death were sons, Maynard, Michael and Martin Bernavage; a step-son, James Bernavage; a daughter, Dolores Ottone; brothers, Michael, Peter and Charlie Kalson; and sisters, Sarah Grobosky and Della Malesky.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday to begin at 9:30AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton to be celebrated by Rev. Martin Boylan, Pastor.
Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-7:00PM at the funeral home.
