Rose M. Hoffman, age 85, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, passed away early Saturday morning, January 19, 2013, at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was the wife of the late Paul M. Hoffman who died December 27, 1996.
Born December 9, 1927 in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Theresa (Sogga) Casella. Rose worked for many years at Rohr Lingerie Incorporated, Old Forge, before her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, Duryea, and active in many church functions. She was an avid Yankees and Steelers fan. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino, cooking, bingo and was a caregiver to many family members and friends. Her greatest joy was her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she was all very proud of.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Nash and staff at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Hospice Community Care in Dunmore for their wonderful care during her stay.
She is survived by four daughters: Christine Sworen & husband John of Dickson City, Terry Lettieri & husband Michael of Old Forge, Paula Schmidt & husband Joe of Old Forge, and Andrea Pilosi & husband Joseph of Old Forge, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two sisters: Louise Reviello & husband Peter of Old Forge and Sophia Genell & husband Charles of Old Forge, and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers: Vito, John, Joseph, Sandy, Pat and Fiore Casella.
The funeral will be held Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013, at 9:30 am from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc. 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a funeral mass at 10:00 am in St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church, 200 Stephenson Street, Duryea, celebrated by Father Carmen Bolock, pastor. The funeral home morning prayer service will be held at 9:15 am at the funeral home. Those attending are asked to arrive at the funeral home for 9:00 am. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday, January 21, 2013, from 5-8 pm. The wake prayer service will be held at 7:15 pm.
