Obituaries

Edward J. Engle, age 51, of Springbrook Twp., and formerly of Scranton, died unexpectedly Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Born in Scranton on November 14, 1961, son of Helen Balendy Engle of Scranton and the late Peter Engle, Jr., Eddie was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he would ultimately receive an Honorable Discharge. Prior to an accident, he had worked as a landscaper for the Mulberry Bush for owners Michael and Helene Colaneri who had always treated him as if he was family. A sports fan who liked the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees, he enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool, fishing and hiking. He’ll be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is also survived by his five siblings, sisters, Joann Diano and companion Thomas Mahoney of Scranton and Shirl Engle of Springbrook Twp., and brothers, Peter W., Robert and wife Karen, and Richard Engle who had been remarkably loving and caring for his brother, all of Scranton; two nieces; and four nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday at 7:00PM in the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, to be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora, Jr., Pastor of the Peckville United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 5-7:00PM prior to services. Private interment, Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eddie’s name to 1034 East Locust Street, Scranton, 18505, to help his family arrange a much-deserved celebration of his life.
