Armand John Cencetti, Jr., age 59, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore after a courageous bout with lymphoma. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary Holland Cencetti. Wed on October 28, 1978, the couple were married for 34 years. Born on August 23, 1953, son of Armand, Sr., and Helen Bobyak Cencetti of Old Forge, Armand graduated from Old Forge High School, Class of 1971, before earning his business degree from the former Lackawanna Junior College. A construction foreman, he worked the past 20 years for Popple Construction in Laflin. He loved his job for many reasons, but none more so than working for his employer alongside his coworkers.
Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. A man of strong character, solid principles, dedicated work ethic and a great sense of humor, his family was of the utmost importance to him. A loving husband, father, son and brother, he will be dearly missed.
He is also survived by his son, Armand Cencetti, III, and wife Juliya of Norristown; his brother, Carl Cencetti and wife Jean Marie of Harleysville; his two sisters, Janet Knox and husband James of MA., and Karen Stolan and husband Jack of Old Forge; brothers-in-law, Joseph Holland and wife Donna of Scranton, Attorney John “Cosmo” Holland of Taylor, James Holland and wife Beverly of Moosic, and Michael Holland and wife Susan of Old Forge; a sister-in-law, Patricia Amato of Old Forge; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 10:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge, with a 11:00AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge, to be celebrated be Rev. Louis T. Kaminski, Pastor. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
