Luis A. Murria, age 63, of Scranton, passed away Tuesday evening at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olyphant, where he had resided for the past four years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Medina Murria. Wed on March 9, 1974, the couple were married for 38 years. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on November 8, 1948, son of the late Maximo and Julia Feliciano Murria, he worked as a housekeeper for Allied Services of Scranton for seven years prior to his illness. His favorite hobby was collecting model cars and his favorite pastime was dancing the salsa. An avid fan of boxing, his favorite boxer was Felix “Tito” Trinidad, Jr. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he will forever be missed by all of those who’ve loved him.
He is survived by his six children, four sons, Eliezer, Luis, Jr., Julio and Ruben Murria, all of Scranton, and two daughters, Jeannie Murria and husband Oscar Milian of Tampa, Florida, and Marisol Murria of Scranton; nine grandchildren; and countless siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 9:30AM at the Parish of St. John Neuman, 633 Orchard Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. John Ruth. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4-7:00PM at the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, West Scranton.
