Obituaries

Sophie Rose Januszewski, age 89, a lifelong resident of Taylor, passed away Monday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. Born on January 13, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Gladysz Januszewski, Sophie was a graduate of Taylor High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. Prior to her retirement, she worked for McKinney Corporation in Scranton. She was a kind and good-natured woman with a deep love for animals.
She is survived by her godchildren Raymond Ferrett and Kathleen Loughney, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her sister, Leona Ferrett; and brothers, Walter, Billy, Johnny and Stanley Januszewski preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday at 11:00AM in St. Ann’s Basilica, St. Ann’s Street in West Scranton. Interment will follow in Sacred Hearts Parish Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street in Old Forge.
