Violet S. Navich, age 80, a lifelong resident of Moosic, passed away Wednesday evening under the care of VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Vincent Navich. The couple would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on November 23rd. Born on March 11, 1932, daughter of the late William and Violet Webb Sibley, Violet was a graduate of the former Taylor High School, Class of 1950. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a sales clerk for Grossmans and Sears Department Store. Of Roman Catholic faith, both she and her husband were devoted members of Queen of the Apostles Parish in Avoca. Former president of the American Legion Womens’ Post 604 of Moosic, she also enjoyed bowling as a pastime. Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife who will certainly be missed.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Sibley Owens; and a brother, William Heyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church at Queen of the Apostles Parish, Hawthorne Street in Avoca, to be celebrated by Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka, Pastor. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Greenwood section of Moosic. Relatives and friends pay may their respects on Sunday between 5-7:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Violet’s name to her church, care of 715 Hawthorne Street, Avoca, 18641.
